Road pavements deteriorate with traffic loading and environmentbut the separate effects of these factors are not yet well definedespecially with age or environment. This paper aims at findingthe separate effects of these two factors on asphalt pavementrutting and cracking. It is believed that this will lead to bettermodeling of pavement deterioration by clearly understanding andtreating the two factors as separate entities. A methodology wasdevised to separate the two effects, in which pavement age isused to represent the cyclic effect of environmental forces, andanalysis was carried out. Results show how each of these factorsinfluence pavement rutting and cracking and provide a furtherunderstanding of the influence of some of pavement parameterson pavement rutting.
